The edutainment centre offers a full range of courses and learning materials to suit all levels of attainment, from complete novice through to expert user. The centre's training facilities include 2 fully equipped training studios, conference room with data projector and networked broadband internet connection. We use the latest Microsoft and other industry standard applications and operating systems.

Courses include packages for beginners through to expert users both for home or office use. these courses can be accredited through national learning bodies or a custom built solution just for you.

We can show you how to use common packages such as word processing or how to tackle more complex issues such as visual basic.

Learn to create a working example of a relational database, using linked tables, queries, macros, forms & reports in Microsoft Access.

Learn to create advanced formulae, form creation & linear databases for data analysis; template design & automted processess. This course uses Microsft Excel.

DTP Design 5 x 2-hour sessions (£250)

For those with knowledge of Microsoft Publisher or similar DTP software, this course uses Serif PagePlus 8, and Macromedia Freehand, Adobe Illustrator & InDesign to teach basic graphic design processes and principles, and improve your DTP design work. Again this course is project based.

For those who want to go beyond computer basics, Digital Imaging covers the 'digitalisation chain' of camera hardware, imaging processing software and output media. Here we use Adobe Photoshop.

Scanning £50

Our short course in scanning teaches you, how to scan in your images correctly first time. digitise photographs and text (optical character recognition OCR), navigate your way around a scanner, what the hardware terminology means, how to connect the scanner to the PC, scan photographs & text, how to save images for the right uses, printing & media types.

If you are looking to prepare composite images from your photographs (e.g. add text labels to photographs) then this course will help you to download images from a digital camera / scanner or select pictures from your collection, then process them to print or screen quality (web graphics). The programme covers the techniques required to digitise images or download from a digital camera • how to save images for the right uses • adding text • printing & media types.
